Horse Riding Lessons

Learn to Ride courses

Learn the basics of riding with this eight week course available for adults and children. This course is suitable for complete beginners with little to no previous experience.

Essential Information

  • You must agree to our terms and conditions
  • For all sessions you must arrive at least 15 minutes before your session is due to start and be present by the arena ready to start before the session begins
  • Late arrivals will not be admitted to Have a Go lessons, and lessons cannot be rescheduled or refunded if you are late
  • Riding and other activities at Lee Valley Riding Centre carry inherent risks. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement. All riders must complete a Rider Registration Form before their activity starts, which must be signed by a Parent/Guardian for children under 18.
  • If you or the person you are booking for has a disability, learning disability, an injury or physical or other medical condition, you must contact us before booking. We'll need some detailed information and may need to carry out a risk assessment lesson so we can recommend the best activity for you.
  • All lessons must be booked and paid for in advance, either online, by visiting the centre or by phone. Have a Go lessons are only bookable online
  • Bookings can be amended so long as you give at least 48 hours’ notice
  • Riders must wear jodhpurs, or loose-fitting or stretchy trousers, a sleeved top and strong shoes or boots with a small block heel
  • If you'd like to bring your own riding hat, please refer to our terms and conditions to see if it's suitable for use at Lee Valley Riding Centre
  • Riding boots are available to borrow free of charge
  • A body protector must be worn for all jumping lessons – customers must provide their own body protector. You cannot jump without one
  • Maximum rider weight is 76kg
  • Games and picnics are prohibited at our venue for safety reasons
  • If you're unsure whether you're able to participate in any activity, or if you have any questions concerning our terms and conditions, our booking process or the Rider Registration or Access forms, please ask a member of staff before you enter into a contract or agree to ride at Lee Valley Riding Centre

Group Lessons

Learn all you need to know about riding with our group lessons for both adults and juniors

If you wish to join our group lessons and have previous riding experience please contact us to book an assessment lesson.Please note, assessment may be required prior to booking.

Membership holders group lessons

We are currently offering all levels for children and adults. This is available to book online by logging in with your membership number.

Rusty Rider 

Been thinking about getting back in the saddle? Used to ride when you were younger? This lesson is suitable for riders at walk, trot and learning to canter plus. To book this non-membered group lesson, give us a call.

Private Riding Lessons

 

We offer private 1:1 private lessons for novice riders (walk, trot and canter independently). Private lessons are available from age 5 years and above. 

Please note, we're currently offering lessons to riders with previous experience to a level of cantering with ease only.
