Summer Reading Challenge in Wandsworth Libraries
The Summer Reading Challenge will be back in all Wandsworth GLL libraries this summer from Saturday 5th July- Saturday 6th September. This year's challenge is called Story Garden and we are taking adventures in nature and celebrating the great outdoors.
The Summer Reading Challenge is open to children ages 4-11 and encourages them to continue reading throughout the holidays. Each year there is a different theme, and in 2024, the creativity -focused Marvellous Makers saw 3,717 children take part in Wandsworth.
The Summer Reading Challenge is produced by The Reading Agency and runs in partnership with libraries all over the country. The Challenge, which is aimed at children aged 4 to 11 years, is to read six or more library books over the summer to encourage them to keep up their reading over the long holiday. In libraries, there are stickers and other rewards for every book read and children who complete the Challenge receive a medal and a certificate. Children taking part online earn digital badges and other online rewards with a certificate to download at the end of the challenge. Children can take part online via Summer Reading Challenge website.
