Learn about our library memberships, including how to join, what's included, and more. 
How much does a Wandsworth library membership cost?
We believe everyone should have access to their local library. That's why it is free to join. All you need to do is sign up online or you can become a member by visiting one of our libraries. Some items on our programme come with an additional charge, such as printing. Please ask at your local library.
How do I sign up for Wandsworth Libraries?
You can join online or in person at your local library. To join online, visit our registration page.
Afterwards, take your temporary library card number to your local Wandsworth Library, along with proof of name, address and signature to get your library card.
What's included in a Wandsworth Libraries membership?
You can borrow up to 50 books for 3 weeks. Your library card also gives you access to the library computers and online services where you can download ebooks and audiobooks, read magazines and newspapers, and get free access to online subscription services.
How do you cancel or renew your membership?

My account

For all account-related queries, from logging in to password resets.
I forgot my library account password. How can I reset it?
Click on the "Forgot Password" link on the login page. Follow the instructions to reset your password. If you need further assistance, please contact library staff.
How old do you have to be to create a library account?
You must be 15+ to create your own library card. You will need ID and proof of address. A parent or carer can create a library card for a child to begin borrowing books before they are 15.
How can I update my contact information in my Wandsworth Libraries account?
Sign in to the My Account section and click on "Profile" in the menu to manage your account details online. Please note, your correspondence address cannot be updated online, please visit your local library with a form of ID detailing your new address and speak to a member of staff to update this.

How many items can I borrow at a time?
The standard limit is 50 items per library card. Check your account or inquire with library staff for specific details.

Can I extend my loan?
Yes, login to your account to manage your loans and your account, click the "Renew" button to extend your loan. 
Please note, certain circumstances such as the item being reserved for another customer may prevent items from being renewed.

Can I return items to any Wandsworth library?
Yes, you can return Wandsworth library books to any Wandsworth library.

I've been charged for an overdue loan. What are my options?
To pay fines log in to your account and click on 'Charges' in the account menu. To pay, click on the blue Pay button and follow the on screen instructions.
For any queries relating to any fines please speak to staff at your local library.


What is the maximum time limit for loans on the online catalogue?
Library books can be borrowed for 3 weeks.


How many digital eLoans am I allowed to have at one time?
You can borrow up to 10 eBooks or eAudiobooks at any one time on Overdrive/Libby. Magazines are unlimited.
On ULibrary, you can borrow up to 6 eAudiobooks at a time. 
On Freegal you can download 3 music tracks in MP3 format each week, and stream 3 of hours of music each day.
Pressreader does not have a limit for the number of newspapers or magazines you can access.



What is the maximum time limit for digital eLoans?
On Overdrive/Libby you can choose to loan items for 7, 14 or 21 days, and they can be renewed if not reserved by another customer. Items can be returned early should you wish to borrow an item and have already borrowed 10 items.
On ULibrary, eAudiobooks are issued for 21 days at a time, and cannot be returned early.

Printing is charged at 10p per page for A4 black and white, A4 colour 25p, A3 black and white 20p, and A3 colour 
There is a £1 charge for reserved items, payable on collection.

How do you book a room?
Book a room using our room booking services. 

How can I book an event or activity at my library?
Go to the events and activities page and select your activity. Not all activities need to be booked.


How do you cancel library bookings?
You can cancel bookings by contacting the library hosting the event.


Can I make bookings at other libraries in my area?
Yes you can book or attend events at any Wandsworth Library. However, other libraries outside of Wandsworth borough require an additional membership.
