Ruby Tucker to shine on world stage at Synchronized Skating Championships
There’s a sense of excitement in the air at Lee Valley Ice Centre as British Ice Skating (BIS) announces the selection of the Icicles Senior Synchronized skating team to represent Great Britain at the World Synchronized Skating Championships. This prestigious event in Zagreb, Croatia, will see top ice skating teams from around the globe vie for the title of World Champions on 5 - 6 April.
Joining the charge for Team GB is 18 year old Ruby Tucker, a local talent from Enfield. Ruby's journey in synchronized ice skating began right here in East London, where she trained several times a week at Lee Valley Ice Centre as a member of the Lee Valley London Skating Club. Over the years, Ruby has showcased her dedication and skill, progressing from Beginner to the Lee Valley London Skating Club's most senior team, Aura. Along the way, she clinched the title of British Champion multiple times.
In a bold move last June, after completing her A Levels, Ruby decided to focus solely on synchronized skating and set her sights on joining the prestigious Nottingham Synchronized Skating Academy (NSSA). Her determination paid off as she secured a coveted spot to train with the Icicles Senior team, along with the junior teams. Commuting between Nottingham and Enfield, Ruby's commitment knows no bounds, often relying on the kindness of her teammates for accommodation and meals.
Despite the distance, Ruby remains deeply connected to her roots, continuing her training at the Lee Valley Ice Centre whenever she's back home.
The selection to represent Great Britain marks the pinnacle of a remarkable season for the Icicles, who clinched the title of British Champions in January. Their journey has taken them across the UK, with notable appearances at competitions such as the Santa Claus Cup in the Czech Republic.

Lee Valley Skating Club has four teams, aged between six and 72, that train weekly at the new Lee Valley Ice Centre.
