Camden GLL Sport Foundation Athlete Strikes Gold for Great Britain in Istanbul

The Camden GLL Sport Foundation is celebrating a fantastic international success after Alicia McDougall, a member of the 2026/27 Camden GLL Sport Foundation cohort and fencer with Camden Fencing Club, helped Great Britain secure gold at the European Cadet Circuit event in Istanbul.

Representing Great Britain's Cadet Women's Sabre Team, Alicia competed alongside teammates Hannah Hughes, Thea Joseph and Karolina Kabelis to deliver an outstanding performance on the international stage. The British team battled through a thrilling 45-44 semi-final victory over Bulgaria before defeating Romania 45-32 in the final to claim the gold medal.

The achievement is a proud moment not only for Alicia and her teammates, but also for Camden and the wider GLL Sport Foundation community. Alicia's success is a shining example of the dedication, hard work and commitment that the Foundation seeks to support and celebrate through its athlete programme.

A huge congratulations to our very own Alicia McDougall!
