The Summer Reading Challenge is back with 'Ready, Set, Read!' for the summer holidays!
Each year, the challenge motivates children to keep reading over the summer holidays to build their skills and confidence, and this year The Reading Agency is partnering with the Youth Sport Trust for 'Ready, Set Read!' a teamwork and games themed challenge that will inspire children to take part and have fun.
Launching at a Bromley Library near you on Saturday 8th July, children will join the superstar reading challenge team and their mascots to help them find the golden books hidden along an obstacle course.
They'll weave their way through the obstacles to read six books, and for every book they read the location of a golden book will be revealed on a special sticker, including a golden book sticker to stick to the scoreboard. Read three books and children will win a mini pinball game, and when they read all 6 books they'll complete the scoreboard and receive a certificate and a medal!
Children can read whatever they like in their chosen format - fiction, fact books, poetry, joke books, picture books, graphic novels, audiobooks and eBooks can all be used to complete the Challenge.
The Summer Reading Challenge is open to all primary school aged children and is designed for all reading abilities. Simply sign your child up for free at your library during the summer holidays.

Complete the challenge
If you complete the prize and read 6 books over the summer holidays you will receive a certificate and a medal, just like your favourite sports star!
Just tell the team at your local library about the books you've read every time you visit to get yours.

Mini Challenge
Do you have a child aged under 4 years old who would also like to take part? They can complete the Mini Summer Reading Challenge!
The mini challenge is the perfect way to encourage pre-schoolers to get excited about reading. Sign up for the challenge and they will receive their own mini scorecard.
For every book that they read over the summer holidays (up to 6) they will receive a sticker. When they read all 6 books they will win a special golden sticker!
