A summer of Hockey glory at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre
As the new hockey season approaches, we’re celebrating an incredible summer of Cup action at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. Our annual competitions brought together clubs from across London and the south east giving players of all levels the chance to stay sharp, compete and enjoy the game ahead of September’s return to league play.
Elite Cups
The men’s elite competition once again saw Wapping Hockey Club take the top prize. This marks their fourth title overall, and with two back to back wins already under their belt, they’ll be chasing a historic hat trick next summer.
On the women’s side, Upminster Hockey Club lifted the Elite Cup for the second time in the competition’s 12 year history, a fantastic achievement that capped off a spirited campaign.
Gap Leagues
Consistency was the name of the game here, with both reigning champions holding their ground. West Hampstead Hockey Club’s men and East London Hockey Club’s women defended their titles in style, proving their dominance across the summer season.
Social League
Saturdays were all about community spirit in our Men’s Social League. Redbridge and Ilford Hockey Club were the standout performers, dropping just two points all summer to secure a well deserved top spot.
Back 2 Hockey Cup
Closing out the season, our Back 2 Hockey Cup welcomed newer players and those returning to the game. With eight teams competing in a tightly contested tournament, it was London Wayfarers Hockey Club B team who came out on top - proof that the future of hockey is in safe hands.
From elite competition to social play, Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre has been buzzing with energy all summer long. Here’s to another exciting season of hockey ahead!
