Bengal Tigers Hockey Club were proud to host a special international tournament at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Sunday, welcoming teams from Bangladesh and the UK, including Bangladesh Vets and R&I.

The event was about more than hockey. Players and supporters came together to celebrate heritage, share stories, and strengthen the friendship between communities. It was also a chance to show support for Bangladesh hockey, with a shared ambition to see the sport flourish on the world stage.

Matches were played in great spirit, full of energy and camaraderie. While the Tigers finished as winners, the real highlight was the sportsmanship and unity shown throughout the day.

Spectators and families added to the atmosphere and the involvement of children and teenagers, helping with teams and organisation, showed how hockey can bridge generations and inspire the next wave of players.

At the close of play, trophies and medals were exchanged as a sign of respect, before teams gathered for a shared meal.

Bengal Tigers coach Abdul Khalik said: “It was a great pleasure to host the Bangladesh Vets team in London and to have so many ex internationals taking part. Playing against players of that calibre is an invaluable experience.”

Bangladesh Vets coach Khawaja Munna added: “We’d like to thank Bengal Tigers HC for organising this fantastic tournament and would love to return in the future.”

Captain Siam Noor summed up the day: “It was such an enjoyable experience, especially playing alongside so many ex international teammates.”

The Bengal Tigers take pride in occasions like this, which showcase the power of sport to connect people, celebrate culture and inspire future generations.

A thank you goes to the supporters whose cheers and encouragement gave the day an extra layer of significance.
