Lee Valley White Water Centre supports specialist rescue training
The training was featured by the BBC and highlighted how the specialist team is using the equipment to support search and rescue work in dangerous water conditions.
London Ambulance Service has purchased three unmanned underwater vehicles, also known as underwater drones. The equipment can enter the water and use a mechanical grabber arm to help crews respond in challenging conditions.
The London Ambulance Service is the first ambulance service in the country to use this specialist kit.
Our white water course provides a realistic and challenging environment for emergency service training, helping teams test their skills in moving water and prepare for real life rescue situations.
The Hazardous Area Response Team returns to Lee Valley White Water Centre each year to refresh its skills, and we’re proud to support training that helps keep people safe on and around the water.
Alongside our visitor activities, including rafting, kayaking, paddleboarding and open water swimming, this is another example of how the centre plays an important role beyond everyday adventure.
