The Summer Reading Challenge is back with 'Ready, Set, Read!' for the summer holidays!
Each year, the challenge motivates children to keep reading over the summer holidays to build their skills and confidence, and this year The Reading Agency is partnering with the Youth Sport Trust for 'Ready, Set Read!' a teamwork and games themed challenge that will inspire children to take part and have fun.
Launching at a Greenwich Library near you on Saturday 15th July, children will join the superstar reading challenge team and their mascots to help them find the golden books hidden along an obstacle course.
They'll weave their way through the obstacles to read six books, and for every two books they read the location of a golden book will be revealed. Each book comes with a golden book sticker to stick to the scoreboard, and for every two books read children will win a prize! When they read all 6 books they'll complete the scoreboard and receive a medal at a certificate ceremony.
Children can read whatever they like in their chosen format - fiction, fact books, poetry, joke books, picture books, graphic novels, audiobooks and eBooks can all be used to complete the Challenge.
The Summer Reading Challenge is open to all primary school aged children and is designed for all reading abilities. Simply sign your child up for free at your library during the summer holidays.
