Penrith Leisure Centre offers gymnastics classes for all ages and abilities.
Gymnastics offers many physical and social benefits in a fun environment which include;

Gymnasts will work on floor skills as well as vault, bars, air-track and beam and they will work towards the British Proficiency Awards Scheme. The sessions are lead by our fully qualified coaches.
Parent & Child class:
This gives children the opportunity to explore basic gymnastics through play and equipment. We use music and movement to encourage children to become confident in our gymnastic environment. The class will help with children’s balance, co-ordination and awareness.
Class time: Age:18 months to 3 years - Thursday 9.30am-10.15am
Children learn gymnastics through play. Skills are taught with the use of soft equipment and attentive coaches. Lessons are fun, social and rewarding. Children learn how to roll, jump, and how to safely move upside down.
- Age: 3-4 years Thursday 10.30am-11.15am
- Age: 4-5 years Thursday 3.45pm-4.30pm
We have beginner and novice gymnastics courses for children of school age which will teach the child the fundamentals of gymnastics, including skills such as forward and backward rolls, handstands and cartwheels. Children can then progress to intermediate and advanced gymnastics. Focus is on skill development and progression, with harder skills being introduced, such as handstand forward rolls, front and back walkovers as well as flics and somersaults.
- Age: 5-6 years:Saturday 9.30am-10.30am or 10.30am-11.30am
- Age: 7-8 years:Saturday 11.30am-12.30pm or 1.00pm-2.00pm
- Age: 9+ years: Saturday 2.00pm-3.00pm or 3.00pm-4.00pm
This class is tailored to teenagers who want to improve on their gymnastics skills whilst learning brand new ones.
Class Time: Thursday 7.00pm-8.00pm
Discipline which combine grace, coordination, agility and artistry. Sessions which teach gymnastics skills and aim to develop flexibility, core strength, dance and hand-eye coordination. Hand apparatus includes rope, hoop, ball, ribbon. No experience is needed but a love for dance and creativity may help.
- Age: 5-7 years: Monday 4.00pm-5.00pm
- Age: 8 years: Monday 5.00pm-6.00pm
Pre-Squad & Squad
These classes involves competitive disciplines, including Rhythmic, Gymnastics for All and Women’s Artistic. Gymnasts who have shown keenness, improvement and commitment are selected by talent identification and follow the British Gymnastics development pathway.
