Discover Adult and Child - Walking age to 3 years*

Children will use their imagination and creativity to help them develop key life skills and physical movement at an early age. Delivered through themes linked to various life experiences, every activity develops gymnastics fundamental movement patterns supporting children to reach key EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) developmental milestones. 

*Rise Gymnastics Discover Adult & Child sessions are suitable for walking age up until the child's 3rd birthday.

Discover Independent child - 3 years to school age*

Enabling children to learn through play and delivered through themes linked to various life experiences, children will use their imagination and creativity to build confidence while learning key gymnastics movements; supporting children to reach key Early years Foundation Stage (EYFS) developmental milestones.

*Rise Gymnastics Discover Independent Child sessions are suitable from the child's 3rd birthday up until school age.

Award level

Each Rise Gymnastics Discover theme has a unique certificate. These are awarded to children to recognise their effort and attendance.

There are three award levels within the Rise Gymnastics Discover Award Scheme.Each award features 16 skills; 12 of these need to be achieved for a child to receive an award.

Children will work towards attaining Rise Gymnastics Discover 1, Discover 2 and finally Discover 3.

Once a child reaches school age, Rise Gymnastics Explore is the perfect next step.

Explore

Explore - 5 to 8 years*

Using a gymnast-centred approach, Rise Gymnastics Explore sessions encourage confidence through participation in a variety of exciting activities and provide gymnasts with the opportunity to explore a range of skills and develop gymnastics fundamental movement patterns.

*Rise Gymnastics Explore is suitable for school-aged children moving up from Rise Discover Independent child sessions, or those children completely new to gymnastics.

Explore Plus - 8+ years*

Using a gymnast-centred approach, Rise Gymnastics Explore Plus sessions provide many choices and opportunities for gymnasts to develop holistically at their own pace while developing gymnastics fundamental movement patterns.

*Rise Gymnastics Explore Plus sessions are suitable for gymnasts moving up from Rise Explore sessions or those with some experience of gymnastics and/or can confidently perform skills from Rise Explore Core Skills 2.

Award level

Medals and certificates are awarded to gymnasts to celebrate their achievement.

There are four award levels within the Rise Gymnastics Explore Award Scheme:

  • Explore 1
  • Explore 2
  • Explore 3
  • Explore 4

Each level features three strands- Core Skills, Apparatus, and Working Together. Each award contains 12 skills; 8 of these need to be achieved for a gymnast to receive an award within that strand.

Competition level

  • Rise Gymnastics Explore 1
  • Rise Gymnastics Explore 2
  • Rise Gymnastics Explore 3
  • Rise Gymnastics Explore 4

Where to next?

Once a gymnast has accomplished the activities and skills in Explore and Explore Plus, Rise Gymnastics Excel is the perfect next step.

Gymnasts can transition from Rise Gymnastics Explore into a National Development Plan competition pathway. This can be either mid-way through or once they have completed Explore. Additionally, as a foundation sport, the confidence and understanding gained through gymnastics will enable gymnasts to transition into other sports.

Excel

Excel - 7+ years*

Rise Excel sessions allow more experienced recreational gymnasts to continue to explore a range of fun and challenging activities and perfect their skills.

*Rise Gymnastics Excel sessions are suitable for gymnasts moving up from Rise Explore Plus sessions or those with experience of gymnastics that can confidently perform skills from Rise Explore Core Skills 4.

Excel Plus - 9+ years*

Rise Excel Plus sessions allow experienced and ambitious gymnasts to practice and perfect advanced gymnastics skills.

*Rise Gymnastics Excel Plus sessions are suitable for gymnasts moving up from Rise Gymnastics Excel sessions or the more experienced gymnast who can confidently perform skills from Rise Gymnastics Excel Core Skills 1.

Award level

Where to next?

Gymnasts can transition from Rise Gymnastics into a National Development Plan competition pathway. This can be either mid-way through or once they have completed Rise Gymnastics Excel.

Rise Gymnastics Excel leads to other recreational activities and pathways, such as GymFusion and displays/festivals.

Additional

Young adults - 12 to 16 years

Aimed at those new to gymnastics or more experienced gymnasts with previous ability, who wish to continue to develop their skills. Young adult gymnastics sessions are fun and exciting with a social element delivered at a more relaxed pace.

Adult - 16 years+

These sessions are relaxed and informal for complete beginners or former gymnasts looking to brush up on skills. Adult gymnastics sessions will allow participants to practice and learn in a safe environment, with the guidance and support of a qualified coach.

Disability

A specialist session for gymnasts with a disability.Gymnasts will have the opportunity to reach their potential in a safe and stimulating environment.

Award level

Young adult & adults

Gymnasts can work towards attaining Rise Gymnastics Explore and Excel awards appropriate to their ability. This is optional and not required.

 

Disability

Gymnasts can work towards attaining Rise Gymnastics Discover, Explore, and Excel awards appropriate to their age and ability. This is optional and not required.

Competition level

Young adults 

Gymnasts may enter local Intra/Inter Rise Gymnastics Explore/Excel competitions. 

 

Adults

Gymnasts may enter local Intra/Inter Rise Gymnastics Explore/Excel competitions. Adult gymnasts aged 18yrs+ may also like to enter the British Gymnastics Adult Championships (Bronze membership required)

 

Disability

Gymnasts may enter local Intra/Inter Rise Gymnastics Explore/Excel competitions.

 

Competitions are an optional extra for each session.

Where to next?

Young adults 

Gymnasts may transition into adult gymnastics sessions once they have reached the age of 16yrs. Some gymnasts may want to consider volunteering or coaching.

 

Adults

Some gymnasts may want to continue their gymnastics careers by volunteering or coaching.

 

Disability

Older gymnasts may consider transitioning to adult gymnastics, or explore the option of volunteering or coaching.
