Healthy habits start young and here at Keswick Leisure Centre, we are thrilled to see our junior members taking care of their physical, social and mental well being. Through necoming junior members, they are able to stay fit, learn how to progress on a fitness journey and workout with new and old friends.

It is fantastic to see young people accessing the centre's gym, providing health benefits through regular exercise. Not only does it improve overall fitness, it also builds a stronger heart, lungs, bones and muscles and it also benefits young people through increasing concentration levels. It is great for the mind as well!

Regular physical activity and exercise increases self esteem and can assist in reducing stress and anxiety as well being able to socialise and formulating new friendships.

Garry Schubert, General Manager and speaking on behalf of Allerdale Centres, explained that when young people of Allerdale join on a Junior Allerdale Membership they are entitled to also use neighbouring Better Leisure Centres at Workington, Cockermouth and Maryport. It is a fantastic offer for the young people across Allerdale and we want to encourage more young people to take advantage of the great facilities and activities on our sites. It isnt just gym, the Junior Membership also allows access to swimming, squash, badminton and more!

Staff at the Keswick have asked young people why they have joined as a junior member;

"My friend was already a member and I wanted to come too. I now feel fitter and healthier"

"I joined to help with my GCSE physical education and course work and I enjoy seeing my friends here"

"I like playing football and rugby and I became a member to improve my cardio and I enjoy using the different machines to do it"

Keswick Leisure Centre will continue to build on it's current gym offer for the local community offering much needed provision for it's community.
