The Ayo Falola Dream Mile Open event held at Lee Valley Athletics Centre witnessed a remarkable display of sporting performance and we saw record breaking performances on Wednesday 7 February 2024.

A massive congratulations to Clare Elms who broke the World W60 record, running the mile in a stunning 5:30.89, shattering the previous record held by Lesley Hinz of 5:39:84. Even in a tough race with close competition, Clare showed her tenacity, battling for second place against 13 year old Isabel Forrest.

In the men's elite race, three runners achieved something special, running the mile in under four minutes. Joseph Tuffin won with a time of 3:59.24, closely followed by Tyler Bilyard and Rory Leonard.

Shaikira King and Olivia Forrest also had stand out performances in their women's elite race for under-17s. Shaikira won convincingly, while Olivia showed great promise and we’re excited to see how they perform in future.

Zoe Doyle broke the British W45 record in the mile, and Lina Nielsen won the 400m race with an outstanding performance.

As always, the team at Lee Valley Athletics Centre are proud to provide a stage for aspiring and elite athletes to achieve their best.
