Four time Olympic gold medallist Sir Mo Farah surprised young aspiring athletes as a special guest at Lee Valley Athletics Centre Minithon.

Sir Mo Farah, who is regarded as one of the best runners of all time and a legendary figure in the world of athletics, helped inspire more than 300 children taking part in the winter Minithon.

The Minthon takes place at Lee Valley Athletics Centre and is a mini Olympics, a place where children can come and compete in athletics and have fun at the same time.

Children of all abilities  come together to showcase their talents and the event exemplifies the power of sports in uniting communities as well as actively engaging  the next generation of athletes.

Minithon stands as a testament to the enduring impact of grassroots events in shaping the future of sports.

Minithon is running again on 23 March 2024 and if you’re little one is keen to get involved with athletics or take first steps on the track they can sign up to the Athletics Academy.
