Have a Go Experiences

Have a Go lessons are group sessions for complete beginners, where riders can experience being on horseback in a relaxed, safe environment on well trained horses.

Riders will learn the basics from mounting to mastering trot. Riding hats and boots are free to borrow with this lesson, so why not have a go!

Our Have a Go Lessons can be used as a one off session or you can continue to book the session to improve your skills and move up to the next level of riding and become a member with us.

Have a Go Experience - Adults

Our adult Have a Go sessions are a great introduction to horse riding for 16 years+.

Price: £35 for 30 minutes
Age: 16 years and above. 
Weight limit: 12 stone / 76kg

Gift Vouchers

Our Have a Go sessions have recently changed to be 30 minutes only therefore we've discontinued our vouchers for 60 minute lessons. If you have a voucher for a 60 minute lesson that you're looking to redeem please contact us to book your session. All vouchers are valid for two years from the date of purchase, please refer to the expiry date on your voucher or contact us.

Essential Information

  • You must agree to our terms and conditions
  • For all sessions you must arrive at least 15 minutes before your session is due to start and be present by the arena ready to start before the session begins
  • Late arrivals will not be admitted to Have a Go lessons, and lessons cannot be rescheduled or refunded if you are late
  • Riding and other activities at Lee Valley Riding Centre carry inherent risks. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement. All riders must complete a Rider Registration Form before their activity starts
  • If you or the person you are booking for has a disability, learning disability, an injury or physical or other medical condition, you must contact us before booking. We'll need some detailed information and may need to carry out a risk assessment lesson so we can recommend the best activity for you.
  • All lessons must be booked and paid for in advance, either online, by visiting the centre or by phone
  • Bookings can be amended so long as you give at least 48 hours’ notice
  • Riders must wear jodhpurs, or loose-fitting or stretchy trousers, a sleeved top and strong shoes or boots with a small block heel
  • Riding hats are available to hire - free to ‘Have a Go’ riders. If you'd like to bring your own, please refer to our terms and conditions to see if it's suitable for use at Lee Valley Riding Centre
  • Riding boots are available to borrow free of charge
  • A body protector must be worn for all jumping lessons – customers must provide their own body protector. You cannot jump without one
  • Maximum rider weight is 12 stone / 76kg
  • Games and picnics are prohibited at our venue for safety reasons
  • If you're unsure whether you're able to participate in any activity, or if you have any questions concerning our terms and conditions, our booking process or the Rider Registration or Access forms, please ask a member of staff before you enter into a contract or agree to ride at Lee Valley Riding Centre

Have a Go Experience - Juniors

Our junior Have a Go sessions are a great introduction to horse riding for ages 5 - 15 years.

Price: £30 for 30 minutes
Age: 5 - 15 years
Weight limit: 12 stone / 76kg

These lessons are for those with disabilites. Please note, we're currently unable to schedule these sessions. If you're interested in booking a lesson, please send us an email.
