Great Ormond Street Hospital Hosts Inspiring Velodrome Challenge at Lee Valley VeloPark
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) held its 8th Velodrome Challenge at Lee Valley VeloPark, raising important funds for the new Children’s Cancer Centre on Thursday 13 November.
From morning to evening, the Olympic velodrome was busy with activity. 72 guests took part in a full day of cycling sessions and hands on experiences. Eighteen teams of four riders - each team contributing £8,000 - hit the track for coached training sessions and an exciting Team Pursuit race.
Throughout the day, guests also joined Q&A sessions with celebrity speakers such as Victoria Pendleton, Jody Cundy CBE, Dani Rowe MBE, Dean Downing and Russ Downing, enjoyed post ride massages, tried E-Sim racing rigs, attended a BikeFit talk, joined Strength and Conditioning workshops and watched a live artist Stuart Storey at work.
After the cycling wrapped up, Lee Valley VeloPark was transformed into a venue for a VIP three course dinner for nearly 200 guests.
The evening meal was delivered by Absolute Taste, the catering company founded by long time GOSH supporter Gordon Ramsay.
While Gordon and his wife Tana were unable to attend in person, they shared heartfelt video messages, reinforcing the significance of the Velodrome Challenge and praising Lee Valley VeloPark’s vital role in GOSH’s fundraising calendar.
