Swimming Pool Refurbishment
Chelsea Sports Centre’s swimming pool is currently closed while significant refurbishment works are carried out to improve the facility and create a better swimming environment for our customers.
Working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Council, the refurbishment forms part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality leisure facilities and investing in the future of the centre for the local community.
What’s happening?
The refurbishment project is focused on upgrading key elements of the pool facility that have reached the end of their serviceable life.
The works include:
- Installation of a new roof over the pool hall and wet-side changing rooms
- Replacement of the pool plant system
- Reconfiguration of the pool’s deep end to create a more gradual slope
- Installation of a new tiled finish to the pool floor and walls
- Improvements to the overall pool environment and supporting infrastructure
Once complete, these improvements will provide a range of long-term benefits, including improved energy efficiency, enhanced water quality and a more modern, comfortable swimming environment for customers.
Swimming during the refurbishment
We understand how important swimming is to our members and the local community, and we are committed to helping customers continue to access swimming while the works are taking place.
During the pool closure, Chelsea Sports Centre members can swim at Kensington Leisure Centre as part of their existing membership.
Members with Partnership or UK-wide memberships can also continue to access our wider network of Better leisure centres.
Swimming Lessons
Swimming Lessons previously delivered at Chelsea Sports Centre have been temporarily relocated while the refurbishment is underway.
Lessons are currently being delivered at Kensington Leisure Centre and Phoenix Fitness Centre & Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool.
Customers affected by the temporary relocation have been contacted with further information about their lessons and alternative arrangements.
The rest of Chelsea Sports Centre remains open
While the swimming pool is closed, the remainder of Chelsea Sports Centre remains open and operating as normal.
Customers can continue to enjoy the gym, fitness classes and other activities available at the centre, subject to the usual timetable.
We appreciate that the temporary pool closure may cause some disruption to our members and customers. However, these works represent a significant investment in the future of Chelsea Sports Centre and will help us provide an improved swimming facility for years to come.
