Swimming Pool Refurbishment

Chelsea Sports Centre is set to undergo significant Swimming Pool refurbishment, which will require the pool to be closed from Sunday 12th July until November 2026.

Working in partnership with Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Council, the project forms part of our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality leisure facilities and ensuring the centre continues to meet the needs of the local community for years to come.

The refurbishment will focus on upgrading key elements of the facility that have reached the end of their serviceable life. Planned works include the installation of a new roof over the pool hall and wet-side changing rooms, replacement of the pool plant system, reconfiguration of the pool's deep end to create a more gradual slope, and the installation of a new tiled finish to the pool floor and walls.

These improvements will deliver a range of long-term benefits, including enhanced energy efficiency, improved water quality and a more enjoyable swimming environment for customers.

We recognise the important role swimming plays in the health and wellbeing of our members and are committed to ensuring access to swimming remains available throughout the refurbishment period. During the closure, all members will be able to swim at Kensington Leisure Centre as part of their existing membership. Members with Partnership or UK-wide memberships will also continue to have access to our wider network of leisure centres.

The final swimming lessons at Chelsea Sports Centre will take place on Saturday, 11 July. Lessons will then be temporarily relocated to Kensington Leisure Centre and Phoenix Fitness Centre & Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool until the refurbishment works are complete. Further information has been sent to all members via email.

While we appreciate the temporary closure may cause some disruption, these improvements represent a significant investment in the future of the facility. We would like to thank our members and customers for their patience and understanding during this period.
