We have a wide range of books to loan for free. You may borrow up to 20 books for up to three weeks. Large print and talking books are also available.


Borrow all the latest DVD's for up to seven days, at just £2.00 per week (for new releases) or £1.00 per week (standard DVD's) watching your favourite movies is great value.

Wi Fi

Free Wi-fi is available in the library.


Enjoy free internet access to help you with your studies or research, for checking your email or simply for surfing the web. You can also use our computers for writing letters, preparing a CV or having a look at your holiday photos.

Children's Activities

The library holds a wide range of fun activities for children to enjoy – from Songs in Spanish to Baby Rhyme time.


Crime Reading group

Our specialist reading group focuses on crime novels.  Come and discuss a new book each month.  Visit our programme for dates.

Adult Activities

We have a range of activities for adults, from reading groups to knitting check out the weekly programme for details.

Newspapers & Magazines

We have a wide range of newspapers and magazines on offer for you to read in our library. Keep up to date with current affairs in at New Eltham Library

Mobile Library

The mobile library carries a stock of books for adults and children, as well as DVDs, videos and talking books on CD or cassette. It has full disabled access and will visit schools, nurseries, play centres and other sites by appointment.

Oxford Art Online is the gateway to multiple online reference resources that serve students with complementary strengths;subscribers to both can cross-search them simultaneously.




Online resources including census returns for England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; civil registration indexes for England and Wales, historic BT telephone directories and more. PLEASE NOTE: Ancestry can not be accessed from home, only from computers in Greenwich libraries.
