Books for loan

We have a wide range of books to loan for free. You may borrow up to 20 books for up to three weeks. Large print and talking books are also available.


Free computer access

Plumstead Library's I.T system has recently been upgraded. We now offer the latest software and improved internet!

Those with memberships are entitled to up to 2 hours per day.  Those without memberships can have 30 minutes per day (depending on availability)


Wireless internet is available. You just need to bring your laptop! There is no time limit for Wi-Fi usage.

Coffee Mornings

Take the time to have a cuppa and a chat.

Children's events and activities

The library holds a wide range of fun activities for children to enjoy – from Songs in Spanish to Baby Rhyme time.

Newpapers and Magazines

We have a wide range of newspapers and magazines on offer for you to read in our library. Keep up to date with current affairs in at Plumstead Library


We have both black and white and colour printing available.

Mobile Library

The mobile library carries a stock of books for adults and children, as well as DVDs, videos and talking books on CD or cassette. It has full disabled access and will visit schools, nurseries, play centres and other sites by appointment.

Access To Research Greenwich Libraries Better GLL

Access to Research

Students, independent researchers and small businesses can now access many of the world’s
best academic papers across science, technology, medicine and other disciplines through their
local libraries. This is the result of a unique collaboration between librarians and publishers, who
have made their journal content available for free to UK libraries under a new initiative,
Access to Research.




Online resources including census returns for England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; civil registration indexes for England and Wales, historic BT telephone directories and more. PLEASE NOTE: Ancestry can not be accessed from home, only from computers in Greenwich libraries.



FutureLearn offers a diverse selection of courses from leading universities and cultural institutions from around the world. These are delivered one step at a time, and are accessible on mobile, tablet and desktop, so you can fit learning around your life.

Learning should be an enjoyable, social experience, so these courses offer the opportunity to discuss what you’re learning with others as you go, helping you make fresh discoveries and form new ideas.
