Archives and Local Studies
Your local archives hold unique records, telling how education, heritage, business and culture developed. Our holdings include records dating back to medieval times; a wide range of books and articles; hundreds of old newspapers; maps; photographs; and census returns.
More intimate collections include family correspondence covering everyday life, love letters, business letters and diaries of local people. Official records include minutes and accounts from the sixteenth century onwards; workhouse records; rate books; school records; and building plans.
