Library careers at Better

Here are just some of the career paths you can take at Better libraries.

Library Assistant

Our entry level library assistant jobs are suitable for those starting out in their library career. In this role, you’ll help out with everything from administration to supervising the front desk and helping customers.  

Library Manager

The next step up from an assistant position, Library Managers oversee the day to day running of the library - from typical library duties to library marketing and staff management.


Librarians are a higher level role that usually requires a qualification. Typical duties include organising and recommending books and resources, taking part in events, and contributing to the general management of the library. 


We occasionally have archives department vacancies across a selection of our libraries. This role involves anything from organising records to supporting people with academic research and personal enquiries.

Support/ Administration

As a Library Administrator, you’ll tackle admin tasks, organise records, and generally be the glue that keeps the library running smoothly. If you're detail-oriented and have a passion for organisation this is your time to shine.


We have a limited number of volunteer roles across Better Libraries. Most commonly, we hire Computer Buddies, who oversee tech support within the library and are available to offer a helping hand. Please enquire at your local library for more information.
