Junior Tennis Courses

Children can learn to play tennis, make friends and have fun with our tennis courses and pay as you go sessions at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

Smashers - 4 to 5 year olds

Smashers gives children the chance to learn the basics of tennis and the skills needed to enjoy playing the game. They'll learn through fun activities whilst focusing on fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and racket and ball skills.

What ball is used?

A red ball is used which is 75% slower than a normal ball.
What racquet is best to use?

A shorter racquet of 19” – 23” is recommended depending on the size and strength of the player. Visit our shop at the centre for help choosing the ideal racquet.

Red - Level 1 (6 - 7 Yrs)

They’ll be introduced to the basics of tennis and get the opportunity to practice long rallies, play different types of shots and get competing.

Essential Information

Junior Tennis information

  • All necessary equipment is provided
  • Players should arrive changed, wearing comfortable sports clothing and non marking trainers or tennis shoes
  • We recommend that children arrive at least 15 minutes before so that they are ready for the start of the session
