Join us for Carers Week at Glass Mill Leisure Centre

We warmly invite our Lewisham Community to join us in ‘Putting Unpaid Carers on the Map’ during Carers Week. 

Carers Week, is a UK wide awareness campaign seeking to increase visibility for carers with decision makers, services, employers, communities and businesses. 

There are 5.7 million unpaid carers across the UK caring for a friend or family members who due to illness, disability, a mental health condition or addiction cannot cope without their support. It is estimated that they save the economy £162 million a year – the equivalent of a second NHS. Yet, many carers feel that their role is forgotten and invisible. 

Maximising Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers in Lewisham offers free support to people aged 4-65+ who care for family or friends without pay. All carers deserve to be visible, valued and supported. The Maximising Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers hub is available every week day in the Glass Mill Leisure Centre Atrium. 

Join us for a week of celebration, information and support with a range of activities each day at the Glass Mill Leisure Centre. There'll be a different focus every day including carers rights, mental health and wellbeing, young carers, work and volunteering.

  • Monday 10th June: Carers Week launch - promoting the rights of Unpaid Carers 
  • Tuesday 11th June:  Health and Social Care - promoting Unpaid Carers within GP Surgeries and Schools 
  • Wednesday 12th June: Work, employment, and volunteering 
  • Thursday 13th June: Younger Carers - focus on Young Carer activities in Schools 
  • Friday 14th June: Older Carers - including physical health and wellbeing 
  • Saturday 15th June: Mental health and wellbeing 

  

This is a free event with refreshments provided and hosted in partnership by Imago Community, Lewisham Council and GLL.
