Welcome to the gym at Penylan Library and Community Centre. Refurbished in June 2019, we have everything you need to meet your fitness goals, whether you're a newcomer or an experienced gym-goer. No matter what your preferred workout style is - cardio, resistance training, or free weights - you can explore each area to find what works best for you. Want to come with a friend or make new ones? Our fitness classes are a fun way to stay active. If you’re not sure where to start, talk to one of our personal trainers, who will listen to your goals and help you create a plan.

Cardio Zone

The cardio zone at our Cardiff gym is the place to be if you're looking to get your heart pumping and work on your cardiovascular health. We've got a wide range of Technogym equipment available, from treadmills and cross trainers to stationary bikes. Perfect for those wanting a high-energy, calorie-burning session or to warm up at the start of a workout.

Core Stretching Area

We're firm believers that recovery is just as important as the workout itself. So, take some time to warm up and cool down in our dedicated core and stretching area. Our core and stretching area is designed for warm-ups, cool-downs and mobility work. Here, you can work on improving your flexibility and mobility, which can help prevent injuries. Or, strengthen your core with an ab workout and bodyweight-only exercises.

Resistance Area

Sculpt and strengthen specific muscle groups using our targeted resistance machines and high‑standard plate‑loaded equipment. Suitable for all fitness levels, these machines will help you complete controlled movements for safer and more effective workouts. Ideal for building muscle tone, enhancing metabolism and supporting overall strength, find what works for you.

Free Weights

Take your strength training to the next level in our fully-equipped free weights area. Penylan’s free weights area features a range of dumbbells, barbells and benches allow for both targeted muscle training and dynamic compound exercises. With weights suitable for total beginners, dedicated lifters, and everyone in between, see how free weights can transform your workouts.
