Renowned Olympic and World Championship team pursuit gold medallist, Ed Clancy OBE, recently made a special return to the Lee Valley VeloPark

The state-of-the-art track in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park holds significant meaning for Clancy as it is where he won gold during the London 2012 Olympics and also marked the location of his final race before retiring after the 2021 UCI Track Champions League.

Throughout his illustrious career, Clancy has secured an impressive trophy haul including three Olympic gold and one silver medal, six golds in the world championships, five in the European championships, and helped set eight world records.

During his most recent visit to the track, Clancy had a different role as he was announced as the new series ambassador for EBK, an all-new E-Bike racing series that promises to bring fast-paced racing to short road circuits in cities across the globe.

Whistle Ignite, Sunset & Vine and EBK partnered up to film videos, host journalist interviews, and organise journalists' ride-outs, where Clancy was the star of the show for two days.

This exciting development for Clancy and the cycling world brings an innovative and thrilling approach to cycling and motorsports.

Head of Digital Whistle Group, Tom Errington, said: "Lee Valley VeloPark was the ideal venue to bring Ed 'home' and complete a comprehensive digital and broadcast package of filming and photography.

“The road circuit provided great opportunities for action shots and the Velodrome provided the picturesque backdrop for our video package. With the support of the staff and great facilities, the VeloPark is ideal for any media work."

Tom Bullen, Events & Corporate Executive at Lee Valley VeloPark, added: “It has been a great two days working with the team from Group Whistle and the Sunset & Vine crew to help promote the launch of the EBK World Cup 2023.

“Furthermore, it was  a pleasure to welcome back Ed Clancy, 3x Olympic Gold medallist, including the Team Pursuit at London 2012. This adds to the fantastic portfolio of filming that we’ve hosted at the venue over the years.

“We are always keen to look at further opportunities to work with film agencies and crews to help them utilise our unique venue, whether that be within the iconic London 2012 velodrome or our vast and diverse outdoor filming locations.”

Lee Valley VeloPark, along with our other Lee Valley venues are available for filming.
