Families Against Violence (FAV)

Fathers Against Violence (FAV) came into existence in March 2011, a birth drenched in tragedy and driven by unimaginable loss. It was founded by James Gregory, a father left shattered after his son was brutally murdered in a gang-related incident. This devastating event ignited a relentless resolve within him—a resolve to combat the very violence that stole his child.

From the ashes of his grief, James Gregory built FAV, a lifeline for other families ensnared in the vicious cycle of gang violence. The cause resonated, grew, and on March 2016, it became officially recognized as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, under the name Families Against Violence (FAV).

This isn’t just an organisation; it’s a movement born from heartache and fuelled by the unyielding determination to create a world where no family has to endure what James and his family did. The name “Families Against Violence” isn’t just a title—it’s a call to arms, a rallying cry for all those who refuse to let violence tear more lives apart. A movement which aims to empower families, youth and build stronger communities through education, sports, training & coaching and healthy activities.

Sessions are held here at Moss Side Leisure Centre every Monday 4pm-6pm, and every Wednesday 4.30pm-6.30pm.

Northern Wave Swimming Club

Northern Wave is a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender swimming club based in centres across Manchester. Most of our members are LGBT+ but we do welcome friends of our community. All you need for your first session is your swimwear, a towel, a pair of goggles, and water - to drink.

We serve competent swimmers aged 18 years or over who want to improve their technique, train for fitness and/or compete in masters competitions. This session will be three lanes of coached swimming so we ask that you are comfortable swimming two lengths without stopping.

New members are welcome and can fill in the online form prior to attending or arrive 15 minutes before the session to register.

Session Day: Tuesday 20:00 - 21:00

Payment: £5 standard/£3 concession

Method: Card payment on arrival or standing order
