Junior Gym and Fitness Classes

We believe that encouraging juniors to start their health and fitness habits early is very important. That's why, to support them during their journey, Hatfield Leisure Centre offer a range of activities to choose from suitable for all abilities.

What's more, the Junior Membership gives even more access across Welwyn Hatfield with a fantastic programme of activities not only at Hatfield Leisure Centre but Hatfield Swim Centre too. 

 

Juniors MUST have a/any valid membership to book on to a junior gym session with offer price. It will cost £15 for Non-members(juniors) to use the gym after they finish their induction.

Junior Gym

Give your child the support they need to reach their fitness goals. Whether they're new to exercise or already active in sports, our qualified Fitness Instructors are always on-hand during Junior Gym sessions to supervise, motivate and answer any questions. Once set up with a membership and having downloaded the Better UK app, all juniors must book and attend a Junior Gym Induction before their first session, to familiarise them with the equipment and how to work out safely and effectively. 

Sessions take place after school weekdays term time and over the weekends. Extended times available during school holidays. 

Numbers are limited so we recommend booking ahead.

Junior Fitness Classes

Juniors can mix up their weekly workout and take part in Junior Fitness Classes. These classes are an additional way to get fit in a fun and social environment and take place during the dedicated Junior Gym sessions. 

These fun, action-packed sessions will put our younger members and their friends through their paces, for an all-over workout.

Adult and Junior Gym

We understand the importance of family time, especially when it comes to physical activity. That's why we offer the choice of Adult and Junior sessions, where any pre-paid adult member can bring along a junior aged 11-17 for free, these sessions run on:

Weekdays 6pm - 9pm 

Weekends 10am - 4pm 

Not only does this provide a safe and supportive environment for both of you to exercise, but it also offers a unique opportunity for families to take time out and spend quality, active time together.

To book in head to the app where slots can be found under the gym tab. Please note any juniors will need to be supervised by their adult at all times.

Football drop in sessions

 

Whether you want to play a 5-a-side match, train or just have a kick about with friends. Hatfield Leisure Centre has a 3G pitch available for juniors aged 11 – 17. So why not grab your friends and get on the ball?

Badminton Drop In Sessions

Badminton 

Playing badminton is a great way to have fun and stay healthy, whatever your age or level of ability. Hatfield Leisure Centre has a range of badminton sessions available for juniors during the week

Junior Gym Rules

Mandatory inductions – To keep everyone safe, members and non-members can attend our junior gym sessions without an adult. Before, they must take part in one of our induction sessions so they can learn how to use the facilities. Juniors will not be allowed to access the gym without having taken an induction. 

Equipment restrictions – So everyone can work out within their limits, we have some age restrictions on our gym equipment. Junior members between 11 and 15 years can use cardiovascular and fixed resistance machines such as treadmills, chest press machines etc. but only 16 and 17 year olds can use the free weights (only specified weights). Juniors may remove weights up to 10kg from the free weights area but cannot remain in the area.

Adult and junior sessions - Alongside our regular classes and sessions for under 18s, we also run adult and junior gym sessions where you can work out with a child. Like our other gym workouts, these slots give you and a child the chance to boost your fitness in the gym and use a range of equipment. While adults take full responsibility for any children aged 11-17 our instructors are always on hand to help.
