Accessible facilities
From Pool Hoists to accessible changing rooms, we range of accessibility features to make sure everyone can have an enjoyable visit.
Accessibility features at South Norwood Leisure Centre include; Pool hoists, allowing wheelchair users and those with limited mobility to enter and exit the pool easily. Accessible, spacious changing rooms equipped with supports rails, non-slip flooring and regency pull cords.
In the gym we have a range of accessible equipment from bikes with movable ramps that allow wheelchair users to use, to some equipment with brail.
The centre has two lifts to allow access to our gym on the ground floor.
Induction Loop
South Norwood Leisure Centre is equipped with an induction loop system, also known as a hearing loop to enhance accessibility for visitors with hearing aids or cochlear implants.
This system transmits sound directly to compatible devices, providing clearer audio and making it easier to follow conversations and announcements.
To use the loop, simply switch your hearing aid or implant to the 'T' (telecoil) or 'MT' setting.
By reducing background noise and echo, the loop ensures that important information from front desk interactions to class instructions are easier to hear and understand. It’s part of our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
SEND Swimming Lessons
We provide swimming lessons specifically designed for children aged 4 and above with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). An adult is required to accompany the child in the water during the session.
These tailored lessons take place in our teaching pool, offering a calmer, more accessible, and supportive environment where children can learn to swim at their own pace.
