Inclusive Activities at Rivermead Leisure Centre

At Rivermead Leisure Centre, we want everybody to feel included. That's why we've created a programme of a range of different activities to allow people from all walks of life, and with different abilities, to take part in sports and physical activity in an environment that suits and is catered to them.

Our inclusive gym membership provides access to gym, swim and classes and costs just £26.00 per month (adult) or £16.00 per month (junior). Additionally, if you'd rather pay as you go, sign up for our free Concessionary Card as this provides up to 50% discount on Pay & Play activites.

Swimming and Swimming Lessons

Inclusive Swimming

This is a bookable swimming session specifically for anyone with a disability.

This session is different from our other sessions as it has reduced numbers to provide a calmer atmosphere. Staff will be on hand to operate the Pool Pod for those who need support to access the pool.

However, please note that the pool pod can be operated during any of our timetabled swimming sessions, meaning all of our swimming sessions can be accessed this way if you would prefer to access a different session.

Carer's can accompany an individual for free.

SEND Swimming Lessons

SEND Swimming Lessons are classes suitable for Children with special educational needs and / or disabilities. These classes are smaller in size and therefore quieter. These classes have a ratio of 1 teacher to 5 Children.

Level Water Swimming Lessons

Level Water provides 1:1 swimming sessions for Children from 4 to 11 years old with a physical disability, visual impairment or hearing impairment.

These specialist sessions are designed to give young people who can't currently swim or need more dedicated attention. The lessons are designed to build their water skills in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

You need to contact Level Water to be placed on their waiting list to access these sessions.

Gym Sessions

Whether you are a first timer or regular user, the new gym at Rivermead Leisure Centre must be seen to be believed. Following a fantastic refurbishment, all areas have the most up-to-date Technogym equipment.

We have a selection of inclusive and accessible gym equipment at Rivermead including:

SEND Soft Play Sessions

We offer designated sessions for those with Special Educational needs, that wish to attend during a time with fewer people around and a quieter environment to enjoy some family fun in our Soft Play.

Starting on 25th February 2025, these sessions will take place on Tuesdays 10-11am and Wednesdays 4pm-6pm.
