Age is just a number, and if you are looking for an active role as part of a friendly, hardworking team we have some great opportunities to for you to qualify and join the Newquay team as a pool lifeguard this year.
Our newly qualified lifeguard from Jim, 49 from nearby Bodmin Leisure Centre tells us why he loves lifeguarding ‘I’d been thinking about becoming a lifeguard for some time. Tempted, the prerequisites for becoming a lifeguard on a National Pool Lifeguard Course are:
- Must be 16-years-old
- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool
- Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permit
