We’re delighted to share that following a long break Bellingham Leisure & Lifestyle Centre, in partnership with The Felix Project, will be delivering another Fresh Food Giveaway on Thursday 5th November, from 1pm–3pm.

Local residents will be able to pick up a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables - from staples such as potatoes, carrots and onions to seasonal apples, greens and more. In total, an estimated 4.5 tonnes of produce will be available for the community to take home, free of charge.

The Fresh Food Giveaway is a great opportunity for local families to stock up on healthy, fresh food and enjoy the benefits of nutritious eating without the extra cost. To find out more about Felix Project and the work they do please visit https://felix.org/

Felix’s mission is to ensure food doesn’t go to waste, and they work with supermarkets, wholesalers, manufacturers, farmers and charities to get surplus food to where it’s needed.

Rescuing food for fuller lives

Felix is about more than just meals. We’re about what food makes possible. We support over 8000 charities and community groups who provide connection, dignity and hope. Felix food helps fuel places where 1.5 million people a year can eat, connect and access vital support.

What Felix stands for,

  • Fuller plates Millions of people in the UK are in food insecurity. We support them with good food that would otherwise go to waste.
  • Fuller communities Food brings people together. The food we rescue sustains charities and local groups at the heart of their communities.
  • Fuller lives The charities and groups we support help people tackle difficult challenges and take up new opportunities. Our food helps people thrive.

If the weather is dry, we’ll be hosting this on the paving to the left hand side of the main reception in front of the Softplay. If the weather is wet, we’ll be hosting this in the Café area.  Where a one way system will be put into place.

Everyone is welcome - just bring your bags, boxes or trolleys and help yourself to some delicious fresh produce.

If you are concerned about carrying goods, car parking is available at the centre with the first 90 minutes being free. With the centre located close to many local bus routes.

We advise people to arrive for 1pm, as the food is handed out on a first come first served basis and once it's gone the giveway will end.
