Richmond Enjoys Memorable Debut at Better Club Games
On Wednesday 21st October, Richmond residents took part in the 20th anniversary of the Better Club Games, joining more than 1,000 participants aged 60+ from 23 partnerships across London and beyond in a day of friendly competition, community spirit and sporting achievement.
Richmond proudly made its debut at the Better Club Games in 2026, competing alongside teams from across the GLL partnership network as part of the event's milestone anniversary celebrations.
Team Richmond took part in a range of events throughout the day, with one of the standout moments coming in the Timed Swim competition. In an impressive achievement for the borough's first year, Richmond secured the Timed Swim Trophy. The winning team included members of the TSC Masters squad alongside two local GLL Sport Foundation athletes.
Richmond also competed in Short Mat Bowls and table tennis, where Richmond’s pair achieved an excellent fifth-place finish overall.
Beyond the competition, the Games provided a fantastic opportunity for participants to meet new people, try something new and connect with others who share a passion for sport, health and wellbeing.
While Richmond did not place among the overall Club Games winners, participants thoroughly enjoyed the experience and represented the borough with pride throughout the event.
Following a successful first appearance and a trophy-winning performance in the pool, Team Richmond is already looking ahead to the 2027 Better Club Games, with hopes of welcoming even more local residents to take part.
