Main Pool
The 6 lane 25m Main Pool is programmed for:
Swim for Fitness (lane swimming)
Swim for All (1 lane, with the rest of the pool open to general swimming), Swimming Lessons,
Swimming Club hire
Lockers take £1 coins, or shopping trolley tokens.
Please comply with our
Swimming tests might be required to prove swimming competency. Lifeguards may ask swimmers to swim one length of the pool (25m) in a recognised swimming stroke without stopping.
Swimming can be booked online, or via the Better UK APP
A pool hoist is available with a weight limit of 140kg. For more information on our accessible facilities please .
Carers can accompany customers for free. There is no need to book a carer space.
Learner Pool
The Learner Pool is an ideal pool to learn and gain water confidence with a max depth of 0.9m.
To book a swim in the Learner Pool and Splash Pad please click book online, or download the Better UK APP. Sessions can be found under 'Swim for All'*
Lockers take £1 coins, or shopping trolley tokens. You may need two lockers, depending on your bag sizes.

Toddlers Pool Splash Pad
The Toddlers Pool Splash Pad is shallow water paddling pool with interactive water play area with a slide for children under 8 years old. Perfect for water babies and water confidence building.

Family Fun Swimming Sessions
Family Fun Swims situated in the Main Pool.
Family Swimming for up to 60 minutes, a perfect way to get active as a family!
The session includes access to the whole of the Main Pool, with ride on mat floats and toys provided
Available weekends and school holidays.

Whether you’re looking to improve your confidence in the water, swim safety awareness or want to help your child learn to swim, we have swimming classes that cater for all levels of ability and ages.
Childrens Swimming Lessons
York Leisure Centre runs swimming lessons throughout the year, children can join at any point and will be assessed on their first lesson to make sure they are in the correct class level.

Better’s adult swimming programme suits all your swimming needs. These are drop in lessons on Thursday evenings and available to book via the link below:

Inclusive Swimming
This open session across all swimming pools (Main Pool and the Learner Pool Splash Pad). The sessions is suitable for people with disabilities and their carers and family members in a friendly and safe environment.
Pool hoist is available for access into the swimming pool. Access steps also available.
Ages: All ages, under 8's must be accompanied by an adult
Times: Saturdays 16.00- 17.00
