Dear Customer,

Four week closure of all Leisure Centres in England – Covid Lockdown

You will be aware that the government has instructed us to close all our facilities across England to the general public for four weeks from Thursday 5th November 2020.

At the moment, the presumption is that all our facilities will be allowed to re-open on Thursday 3rd December and we are also expecting the same tiered restrictions to be restored in each area. Currently, in England, all our centres are able to operate as normal in Tiers 1, 2 and 3, but in tiers 2 and 3 you should only attend activities such as Gym, Exercise Classes and Swimming on your own or with your family.


We are really looking forward to welcoming you back and bookings for activities from and including Thursday 3rd of December will become available on the Better UK app and our website from the evening of Thursday 26th November, (unless there is a change in legislation).

Your membership

We will automatically make sure you don’t pay anything for the complete lockdown period. Monthly members payments have been suspended from yesterday and won’t be reinstated until December 4th ensuring everyone received a complete month free. All our annual members or block customers will have their membership end date extended by a full month.

Will you consider donating your lockdown membership fee to support our good causes?
We are offering all our Customers the opportunity to support our programme for disadvantaged young athletes and users with disabilities by continuing to pay your membership fee during the lockdown as a one off contribution to GLL’s community work as a Charitable Social Enterprise.

Better at Home

Please remember that you have FREE access to hundreds of online classes and activities with our app. You are also allowed, under the lockdown rules, to train outside once a day with one other person.

Can I take this opportunity on behalf of all the team at GLL and Better to thank you for your support and for staying with us as a customer. These are unprecedented times and we are working hard with your local Council to protect and preserve as many local leisure services as we can.

This further lockdown is a serious blow to all of us, but with your support we will be able to continue to provide affordable, good standard facilities and activities across our communities post lockdown and beyond.
