You will be aware of our continuous focus on advocating the positive impact leisure centres, gyms, swimming pools and exercise has on the physical, mental and social health of our communities.

Our CEO, Mark Sesnan wished to share a one-time opportunity to have your voice heard ahead of the expected reopening of leisure facilities on 3rd December when the current lockdown ends.

To our valued customers,

This Monday, there will be a parliamentary debate as a result of an e-petition which has accrued over 600,000 signatures.  The debate will consider whether gyms, pools and leisure centres should stay open during any future lockdown and across all tier systems (if they are re-introduced). If agreed by MPs, this will put pressure on government to allow us to keep gyms, pools and leisure centres open.

I am therefore asking for your support to consider emailing your local MP, before the debate on Monday 23rd November, to tell them how important keeping local leisure facilities open is to you.  Leisure centres, gyms and swimming pools are an essential part of our community, and we need this view to be shared by our policy makers.

Like the government, our primary focus is on ensuring the health and safety of our members and the broader community. We know this can be achieved by keeping our important public leisure facilities open and operational. I hope that you will take an active stance by contacting your local MP.  It’s important that they hear, direct from local constituents, just how crucial gyms, pools and sports grounds are and the impact they have on the lives and livelihoods of many.

How should I contact my local MP?

You can find your local MPs contact details via the MP directory on the Parliament website by clicking the link below. It is a parliamentary protocol that MPs respond to constituents only, so it is important to confirm you are a constituent by including your address and postcode. You should also ask for a response so that you can refer to it afterwards if you do not receive a reply.

Together we can start this winter strong, so thank you for your support.

Stay well, fit and happy,

Yours sincerely
