GLL is pleased to announce that applications for the 2026 GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) Awards are now open from 20th December until 20th February.
The programme provides vital support to athletes across a wide range of sports, helping remove barriers to training and competition.
The impact of the Foundation can be seen through athletes such as Margaret “Maggie” Cotter, a Bedford-based swimmer who was recently awarded Adult Personality of the Year at the 30th Bedford Sports and Physical Activity Awards.
Maggie, who trains at Kempston Pool and Fitness, competes in British and World Transplant Games and uses her sporting achievements to raise awareness of organ donation. Following a liver transplant in 2018 and a kidney transplant in 2023, Maggie returned to competitive swimming, achieving success at national and international level. In 2025, she won gold and bronze medals at the British Transplant Games and later won silver and bronze medals at the World Transplant Games in Germany.
Maggie credits her GLL Sport Foundation Award with supporting her training by providing access to facilities across the UK, helping her continue training both at home and while competing away.
Who can apply?
The programme is open to athletes who:
- Compete at regional, national or international level
- Are aged 12 and above
- Train or live in an area supported by GLL
- Demonstrate commitment and potential in their sporting pathway
Applications are completed online and take only a few minutes to submit. Athletes can apply by visiting the GLL Sport Foundation website before the 20th February deadline.
A commitment to community inspiration
