Templemore Baths Supports Restart a Heart Day 2026
On Friday 16th October, Templemore Baths proudly supported the British Heart Foundation’s Restart a Heart Day 2026, delivering CPR workshops to local community groups and school pupils, helping to raise awareness of these vital, life-saving skills.
The workshops were led by Eben and Charlotte, both experienced Lifeguards and Swim Teachers who brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the sessions. Together, they helped participants understand the importance of CPR and develop the confidence to act quickly in an emergency.
Around 70 people participated in our CPR workshops, including school children, older adults and young people with a range of additional support needs, demonstrating the importance of making life-saving skills accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
The importance of learning CPR cannot be underestimated. According to the British Heart Foundation, more than 40,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the UK every year, yet fewer than one in ten people survive. Around 80% of these cardiac arrests happen at home, meaning the person who needs help could be a family member, friend or loved one. Early CPR and the use of a defibrillator can more than double the chances of survival.
With 43% of UK adults having never learned CPR, initiatives like Restart a Heart Day play a crucial role in helping more people gain the knowledge and confidence to respond when it matters most. By providing opportunities for people from different backgrounds and generations to learn these skills, Templemore Baths is helping to build a more confident and prepared community.
At Templemore Baths, we remain committed to supporting our local community, strengthening partnerships and empowering people with the skills and confidence that could one day help save a life.
