Dusk till Dawn is our 12-hour swim relay that lights up Cambridge every summer. From the moment teams arrive and set up their spaces along the poolside, there’s a buzz of excitement in the air. Regular swimmers and first-timers alike dive in for big, sweeping loops around the iconic Level Water buoys, with all lane markers removed to make space for something truly special.
As the sun sets, the 91m lido takes on a calm, magical energy. The water cools, the lights come on, and the atmosphere transforms. Lifeguards keep a watchful eye while swimmers take turns as often as they like; pushing through the night together. Every hour, the whole pool comes alive with celebration: music, high-fives, and cheers that keep everyone moving until dawn.
When the first light appears at 7am, swimmers finish their final laps with smiles, stories, and a shared sense of achievement. If you love open-water style swimming but prefer to see the bottom, and you’re not ready to commit to a full 24 hours, Jesus Green is the perfect event for you.
Jesus Green is also a meaningful place for Ian Thwaites, Level Water’s CEO. It’s where his own swimming journey began. He started his learn to swim journey there and now this event will helps hundreds of disabled children access swimming each year.
