National Sports Open Weekend - 18th and 19th July

Families across Carlisle are invited to join us at Trinity Leisure Centre for a fun-filled Community Open Day on Saturday 18th July, celebrating GLL's support of the Commonwealth Games.

Packed with activities, demonstrations and hands-on experiences, the event promises something for everyone. With a particular focus on children and families, visitors can enjoy a range of sports inspired by the Commonwealth Games, discover local clubs, learn new skills and meet members of the community.

A variety of activities will be taking place throughout the venue. In the sports hall, adults and children can enjoy mini badminton and mini pickleball taster sessions. Younger visitors can also make the most of our free bouncy castle, with drop-in sessions running throughout the day. All hall activities will be available from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

Continuing the Commonwealth Games theme, we're also offering free Swim for All sessions for the whole family to enjoy. Carlisle Sub Aqua Club will be hosting exciting FREE pool demonstrations, giving visitors the chance to see underwater activities and specialist equipment in action.

The foyer will be buzzing with interactive activities and information throughout the day. Visitors can take part in free introductory CPR and first aid sessions, learning valuable lifesaving skills in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Representatives from Carlisle Sub Aqua Club will also be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the club and its membership opportunities.

From 12.00pm, our swimming teachers will be available to chat about our Learn to Swim programme, swimming lessons and the wide range of opportunities available for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

For younger visitors, alongside the bouncy castle, there will be colouring and craft activities running throughout the day, providing plenty of creative fun.

The Trinity team has designed this event to bring the community together, showcase the fantastic range of local clubs and activities available, and encourage people to try something new.

With FREE entry and activities for all ages, the Community Open Day is the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy a great day out during the summer holidays while discovering the exciting opportunities available in the local area.
