Aqua Play Opens Thursday 22nd October.

We’re delighted to welcome families to Aqua Play at Heworth Leisure Centre, a dedicated water-play area designed for children under 8.

Aqua Play gives younger children the chance to explore water through play. As they splash, pour and watch water move through the features, they can develop their curiosity and practise skills such as coordination, communication and problem-solving. Playing alongside other children can also encourage sharing, taking turns and building confidence in a new environment.

The area includes interactive water features and a small slide, offering different ways for children to get involved at their own pace. Every child is different: some may want to explore straight away, while others may prefer to watch first or try one feature at a time. Families can help children enjoy the experience in the way that feels comfortable for them.

Aqua Play may also offer a different setting for schools and groups looking to include water-based play in their activities. Schools interested in visiting can contact Heworth Leisure Centre to discuss their group’s requirements and the options available.

We recognise that children have different sensory needs and may respond to water, sound, movement and busy environments in different ways. If you would like to talk through your child’s needs or ask about a visit, please contact the centre before booking. Our team can help you find out more about the space and plan your visit.

Adults supervising children do not need to wear swimwear in the Aqua Play area. Short-sleeved clothing is permitted (no footwear). Please follow any other guidance displayed at the centre and instructions from our team.

A supervising adult must stay with their child and actively supervise them throughout the visit.

For current session times, availability and prices, please check the Better UK app or speak to our reception team.
