Fun, adventure and underwater skills for confident young swimmers
Heworth Leisure Centre is excited to announce its Summer Snorkelling Sessions for children, running from Wednesday 22nd July to Wednesday 3rd August.
The sessions are open to children who have achieved Better Bronze Stage or Swim England Level 5 and above. Young swimmers will have the opportunity to learn new snorkelling skills, build confidence in the water and enjoy a fun, active summer experience with friends.
Snorkelling is a fantastic way for children to develop their swimming ability while discovering a whole new underwater world. Participants will learn how to use snorkelling equipment safely and effectively, improve their breathing and water awareness, and gain valuable aquatic skills that can be used for years to come.
With many families planning summer holidays by the sea, these sessions are also a great way to prepare children for future adventures. Whether exploring crystal-clear waters on holiday, spotting colourful fish, or observing fascinating marine life, snorkelling can open the door to exciting experiences beneath the surface. Learning the basics in a safe and supervised pool environment helps children feel more comfortable and confident before trying snorkelling in open water.
As well as being educational, snorkelling is a fun way to stay active, make new friends and enjoy the summer break. Our qualified instructor will ensure that every session is engaging, enjoyable and suitable for all participants.
Places are limited and expected to fill quickly, so early booking is advised.
Spaces are available to book via the Better UK app.
