The first week of the Easter Holiday saw four days of tennis camps at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub for children aged 5-11 years. These camps were a great way of promoting a health lifestyle to children while introducing them to a new sport and learning new skills. It is also a great opportunity for participants to make new friends and enjoy all the benefits that being active outside can bring.

The week’s tennis was delivered by our level 3 coach, who runs our weekly junior programme which goes on throughout the year. Equipment was provided if required by participates which is always the case for our weekly coaching which takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to help encourage beginners to start playing.

The camps are designed so all abilities can benefit from participating in them with beginners encouraged to join.  The Coach uses a range of individual and team games to help develop children’s hand eye co-ordination and tennis skills, pupils were taught the basic strokes that are used in tennis so they went away with a greater knowledge of the sport. One of the main purpose of the camps is to create a friendly environment were children can enjoy themselves and make new friends which we are pleased to say was evident everyday.

It is an exiting time for tennis at Gunnersbury Park with our weekly programme increasing in popularity and a new LTA Youth Start course beginning on April 20th. This course is designed at beginners aged 6-8 years who will receive 6 lessons, a racket, t-shirt and balls for £34.99 to book please visit…
