NATIONAL FITNESS DAY 2026
Join Highbury Leisure Centre and the rest of the UK on Wednesday 16th September 2026 the biggest physical activity celebration of the year. Run by UKActive, National Fitness Day aims to encourage the nation to get moving and bring people together.
This year's theme for National Fitness Day is Powered By You. It isn’t just about one day of activity; it is about you and your community taking that first step towards healthier lifestyles. There will be a range of free activities for you to try throughout the day, and everyone can enjoy complimentary fresh fruit.

What to Expect
Open Day Cardio Master Class
Description: Get your heart pumping with our fast-paced, high-energy Cardio classes. Spanning HIIT, Group Cycle, Aqua Aerobics and more, these group sessions are a great way to stay healthy and have fun.
Open Day Gym Taster Session
Description: Kickstart your fitness journey with a free trial of the gym. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate machines and advise on the best ways to achieve your fitness goals.
Note: Inductions will not be required. T&Cs will be agreed to at the point of booking. Staff should be on hand to assist customers.
Open Day Dance Fitness Master Class
Description: Get fit and feel great with our selection of Dance classes. From Zumba to Social Dance, these group exercise classes are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and keep you active.
Open Day Mind and Body Fitness Master Class
Description: Feel better inside and out with our Mind and Body classes. Build strength and flexibility in low-impact sessions like Pilates, and feel revived and relaxed with mindfulness-focused sessions such as Yoga.
Open Day Strength and Conditioning Master Class
Description: Build muscle and feel stronger with our Strength and Conditioning classes. Try motivational group sessions like Legs, Bums and Tums or Circuit Training to strengthen and condition your whole body.
Open Day Group Fitness Master Class
Description: Not sure what to expect from a Fitness Class? Can’t decide which one to try first? This Group Fitness Master Class lets you sample a variety of sessions across all four categories: Cardio, Dance, Mind & Body, and Strength & Conditioning.
