Wimbledon Leisure Centre has always had a fantastic gym space located within a remarkable and historic building that both our members and staff are proud of. We’re excited to announce that we’ve given the centre’s fitness areas a much needed face lift to enhance your work out with us.
Here’s what’s new:
Let’s start with the most important aspect of the building - the main workout space. We’ve refreshed and repainted all the walls and updated lighting throughout creating a much more motivational area to train in. The addition of coloured floor lights, neon strips and wall art all help to create a better atmosphere when you’re working out.
We’ve also added new kit for you to enjoy during you workouts plus a new training rig into the side gym, with new functional equipment such as a second punch bag. Even more new functional training equipment including kettle bells, core bags and dumbbells have been added to the gym floor in our functional training area, smartly housed in two new storage units.
Located on the first floor balcony area in the gym, our group cycle studio has seen the biggest update. Gone is the old, lifeless room and in its place is a neon lit, atmospheric training studio. We’ve darkened the walls, blacked out the windows and added a whole host of neon lights to heighten your group cycle experience. There’s also a new sound system and speakers for a fully immersive experience. We have 18 group cycle bikes on offer with classes across the week and the programme rapidly growing with demand.
The instructor now has a dedicated platform at the front of the room for you to focus on and to motivate you. We’re really excited about this new space and can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself.
Similar to the gym, we’ve refreshed the walls and lights as well as restoring the floor to a higher standard. The lights have been upgraded to allow them to be dimmed and create a better workout environment, especially in our calmer classes such as yoga and mindfulness. We’ve added some colour and wall art to further improve the look and feel with medicine balls and steps coming later this month.
Our reception area has had a makeover too. We’ve made it a much lighter, brighter and easier journey for you to get to where you need to be. Our new look reception area will still have the same friendly team to welcome you and answer any question s you may have about your visit.
The first floor gym changes have received mini makeovers too. We’ve refreshed the walls and lights with some additional upgrades to the shower and vanity areas.
