Leyton Leisure Centre is delighted to announce the opening of its new women-only gym, creating a dedicated fitness space designed to offer local women greater choice, privacy and confidence when exercising.

The new facility is available during the centre's normal opening hours, giving members the flexibility to work out at a time that suits them:
Monday to Friday: 6.30am to 10.00pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8.00am to 6.00pm

Created in response to feedback from customers and the local community, the women-only gym provides a welcoming environment for women who prefer to exercise in a dedicated women-only setting. Whether returning to fitness, starting a new exercise journey or simply seeking a more private space, the facility is designed to help more women feel comfortable and confident being active.

The initial gym includes a focused range of cardio and strength equipment, providing everything needed for a varied workout. Importantly, this is just the first phase of the project. The team will listen closely to feedback from women using the space, and if demand is strong, plans are already in place to expand and further develop the gym during November and December.

As a charitable social enterprise, GLL continually invests in facilities to ensure they remain accessible, affordable and relevant to local communities. The organisation's purpose is “to improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing of local communities” through inclusive and accessible opportunities to exercise. The new gym builds on the success of the centre's popular women-only swimming sessions and supports our work with Waltham Forest Council to help more people become active, more often.

Daniel O'Connor, Partnership Manager for Waltham Forest, said:
"We're really pleased to be introducing a dedicated women-only gym at Leyton Leisure Centre. We know that having a comfortable and private environment can make a real difference to some women when it comes to feeling confident and motivated to exercise.
"We're deliberately starting with a focused offer so we can listen to the women using the space and understand what they want. If the initial launch is successful, we have plans to further develop and expand the gym later this year."

The new women-only gym complements the centre's existing programme of fitness classes, swimming and women-only swimming sessions, further demonstrating GLL’s commitment to creating more opportunities for women and girls to be active while giving local women greater choice in where and how they exercise.
