Speedway Grand Prix 2026
On the 5th and 6th of June, Belle Vue once again welcomed one of the biggest events in the international speedway calendar as the Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) returned to Manchester for two action packed days of world-class racing. Following the huge success of last year’s event, the Grand Prix made a highly anticipated return to the National Speedway Stadium, and this year proved to be even bigger and better.
The event brought together some of the sport’s top riders, with competitors travelling from across Europe and beyond to compete in the Speedway Grand Prix series rounds 3 to 4. Manchester was once again placed firmly in the spotlight as fans from around the world travelled to Belle Vue to witness the excitement firsthand. With Rounds 5 to 10 taking place in various countries across Europe over the coming months, the Manchester rounds provided another fantastic opportunity to showcase the city and the venue on an international stage.
Building on the momentum of last year’s successful debut, the 2026 event attracted even greater interest from fans. Both days were sold out, with thousands of spectators filling the stadium and creating an incredible atmosphere throughout the weekend. Demand for tickets was so high that a temporary stand was installed to increase capacity, allowing even more supporters to experience the action live. The sight of a packed stadium demonstrated just how much the event has grown in a short space of time and highlighted Manchester’s importance on the Speedway Grand Prix calendar.
The racing itself certainly lived up to expectations. Fans were treated to a thrilling weekend of elite competition and high speed action as riders battled for valuable championship points. The atmosphere around the venue was electric, with supporters from different countries coming together to celebrate the sport and cheer on their favourite riders, including Britain’s own representatives.
The event also delivered significant benefits for the local area. Visitors travelled from across the UK and overseas, providing a welcome boost to local hotels, restaurants, bars and businesses. The international coverage generated by the Speedway Grand Prix also helped to further raise the profile of both Manchester and Belle Vue as destinations capable of hosting major sporting events.
The return of the Speedway Grand Prix and its continued growth from one year to the next, highlights the versatility and appeal of Belle Vue as a venue. Successfully delivering an event of this scale requires extensive planning and coordination, and once again Belle Vue rose to the challenge. From accommodating thousands of spectators to welcoming international teams, officials and media, the venue demonstrated its ability to host world-class events at the highest level.
