SEND Work Experience with The Manchester College

Through their work experience at the leisure centre, learners have developed a wide range of valuable skills, including cleaning, customer service, communication, teamwork, following instructions, timekeeping, responsibility and working independently. These experiences have helped learners to understand workplace expectations while building their confidence and independence.

We would particularly like to thank Elliot, who has been an important point of contact in supporting the partnership and creating opportunities for our learners. We would also like to thank all of the Moss Side Leisure Centre staff who have been welcoming, patient and supportive towards the young people during their placements. Their encouragement and willingness to work alongside our learners has helped make each experience positive and meaningful.

The impact of this partnership can be clearly seen in the progression of our learners. All of the learners who have undertaken work experience with Elliot at Moss Side Leisure Centre have gone on to progress onto supported internships, and some have subsequently progressed into paid employment.

We are extremely grateful to Moss Side Leisure Centre, Elliot and the whole staff team for their continued collaboration and commitment to supporting our learners. By opening their doors and giving young people the opportunity to experience a real workplace, they are helping to create pathways into employment and supporting our learners to build brighter, more independent futures.
