A major community wellbeing event aimed at supporting residents living with long-term health and mobility challenges will take place at Leatherhead Leisure Centre on Thursday 4 June 2026 from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

The Community Access and Support Day is being delivered in partnership between Better, who operate the leisure centre, and Surrey Downs Health and Care.
The event has been specifically designed for people across East Surrey who are currently on NHS waiting lists for health and mobility conditions and who may be experiencing day-to-day challenges relating to their physical health, wellbeing or independence.

The day will bring together a wide range of health, wellbeing and community organisations under one roof, giving residents direct access to information, guidance, activities and support services available within the local community. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak directly with professionals and organisations who can offer practical advice, signposting and ongoing support.
Organisations and partners attending the event include GP referral and social prescribing services, St Helier Hospital Diabetes Services, Surrey Downs Dietitian Service, GLL/Better GP Referral and Senior Club Activity Providers, Dementia Services, Mary Frances Trust, Princess Alice Hospice, Caremark, Asthma + Lung UK, Versus Arthritis, British Heart Foundation, Action for Carers Surrey, Sport in Mind, East Surrey Domestic Abuse Service, Leatherhead Community Hub, Oasis Charity, Raven Housing Trust, Tech Angels, Surrey Coalition for Disabled People, Possability People, The Good Company, Mole Valley Life, Elmbridge, CSVA Volunteering Service and Leatherhead PCN.The event reflects a growing commitment across the health, care and community sectors to improve accessibility to local support services and create stronger connections for residents who may otherwise struggle to access the help they need.

General Manager Darren Pope from Leatherhead said:“This is an incredibly important event for our community. By bringing together health professionals, charities, support groups and community services in one accessible location, we hope to help residents better understand the support available to them and encourage people to take positive steps towards improving their health and wellbeing.”

Residents are encouraged to attend throughout the day, meet with organisations, ask questions and explore the many services and opportunities available across East Surrey.
