Phoenix Fitness Centre and Janet Adegoke Swimming pool have a range of activities which can be booked by both members and non members. These include opportunities to use the gym, sports hall activities, fitness classes and swimming pool.
Whether you're a member or a first time visitor, come and enjoy our Open Weekend filled with free, fun activities for all ages and abilities at your local Better leisure centre. Get active, meet new people, and explore exciting new activities.

Family Fun Swims:
General swimming session for families with floats and toys. *Swim safety rules apply
Adult - Gym taster sessions:
Duration: 60 minutes
Description: Kickstart your fitness journey with a free trial of the gym. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate machines and advise on the best ways to achieve your fitness goals.
Adult & Junior Gym Taster Session
Duration: 90 minutes
Description: Kickstart yours and your child’s fitness journey with a free trial of the gym. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate machines and advise on the best ways to achieve your fitness goals.
Group Fitness Masterclass - Circuits
Duration: 45mins
Description: Not sure what is involved in a Fitness Class, can't decide which class to try first, then why not try this master class, it will allow you to experience classes from all four categories, Cardio, Dance, Mind and body or Strength and Conditioning.
Junior Swimming Lesson taster session
Duration: 30 minutes
Description: Dive into safety and confidence— Join us for your child's initial assessment in joining our Swim School and get an introduction to water safety ahead of summer for free! Suitable for 5-11 year olds
Adult Swimming Lesson taster session
Duration: 45 minutes
Description: An adult swimming class for learners and improvers. Getting in for the first time or refreshing and improving your swimming skills, come and learn with our resident Swim Doctor
SWiMBiES taster lesson
Duration: 30 minutes
Description: Start your child's swimming journey today with a free trial of our baby and toddler programme, Swimbies specifically designed for the development of children from the age of 3 months to starting primary school. Our specialist teachers are ready to welcome you and your little one into the pool to help introduce you both to the water through fun child lead activities and familiar song.
Please note – Adult must enter the water with their child for this session.
Junior Tennis taster session
Duration: 1 hour
Description: A fun and engaging junior tennis session designed to help young players develop basic skills such as coordination, racket control, and teamwork through games and simple drills in a supportive environment.
Suitable for 5-14 year olds
Adult Social Pickleball
Duration: 60 minutes
Description: Try our social pickleball sessions, a fun way to stay active and meet new people. With its easy-to-learn rules and sociable pace, pickleball is perfect for all ages and abilities. Come along and discover why it’s one of the fastest-growing sports around! Equipment provided.
Adult Health Checks & functional fitness test -
Description: Come in for a free health check with our friendly, experienced fitness team
Duration - 15 minutes
Kids Bouncy castle
Description: A fun and safe play session where children can bounce and play on a supervised inflatable. Lot's of fun and lots of laughter.

Non-members can participate by creating a free account via the app or online at https://bookings.better.org.uk/register Simply book an available open day activity. Terms and conditions apply.
Begin your their Open Weekend experience by accessing the Open Weekend tile on the centre app home screen and select the day and activity required.

How to book?
If you are a non-member:
Non-members can participate by creating a free account via the app or online at https://bookings.better.org.uk/register, then simply booking an available open day activity. As part of the registration process, customers must agree to the activity terms and conditions, which include a signed waiver granting access into the centre.
What do I need to bring?
Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for all classes and activities; all equipment is provided. Please make sure you bring a towel and water with you.
What if I have a health condition?
Please make sure you let the members of staff know about any health conditions prior to activity.
What if I have never been before?
If you're new to any of the activities or unsure about using certain equipment, feel free to ask one of our staff members. We’re here to guide you. If you’re using the gym or taking part in any physical activities today, please ensure you’ve warmed up first. If you need guidance, our fitness instructors are here to help.
